rf2 GT Pro Series season 2 - Burst Esport at Sebring

Mixed start to GT PRO season 2

The prime series from rFactor 2, GT PRO kicked off season 2 this week with Jernej Simončič, Michi Hoyer and Robin Pansar representing Burst Esport in our brand new Callaway Corvette GT3 car!

Our FSR World Champion Jernej qualified 4th for the sprint race, while Michi and Robin struggled a bit, which gave them a starting position of P14 and P28.
The sprint race was pretty straight forward for Jernej who finished where he started in P4 to get some solid points. Michi still struggled to unlock the pace we all know he has and finished in 15th place while Robin did well to gain five places and finish in P23.

For the feature race which was 45 minutes long compared to the sprint race of 15 minutes, the top 10 finishers were reversed which meant Jernej started from 7th.
Robin Pansar once again showed great race craft and finished higher than where he started, P22 at the chequered flag.
Jernej was running in the top 10 until he late in the race ran a bit wide on the exit of the final corner and got damage on his car, which demoted him down to P17. He will bounce back in round 2 for sure!

As mentioned, Michi had a tough evening which he gave this comment about:

Not really the start into the season we have hoped for. All drivers sadly finished below their potentials due to some tough luck and driver errors. Therefore we conclude that round 1 hasn’t been with a lot of luck for the boys. But that’s racing. They will get their heads up, come back stronger and surely will score better next time.

For me personally, round 1 feels like a missed opportunity to demonstrate that I belong into GT Pro on a deserved level. In Race 1, a split second decision and missing dedication to what I can do meant I just about held on to finish P15 and then in Race 2 an amateur mistake threw me back to P25 of which I recovered to P18, which was okay. Both races could and probably should have been top 10 finishes, so there has to be some redemption on that in future rounds and I hope I will be able to get the results I am capable of doing.

A mixed day at the office, but we learn from our mistakes and bounce back even stronger! You can see that in under two weeks time for round 2 of the GT PRO series on the 26th of October when we go to Portland!
